Life Is Too Serious is a film about George Dreyfus, one of Australia's most prolific and innovative composers. Dreyfus is a man whose personality is as unique as his music. He is at once composer, musician, conductor, intellectual, entertainer, clown.

From a German Jewish family, Dreyfus escaped Nazi Germany and came to Australia in 1939. In the post-war period he built an enormously successful musical career spanning half a century.
